The opening in this style is quite limited, particularly when it’s on your shoulder so if you have the medium, and obviously carry more stuff inside, it might be quite an awkward bag to access.

My guess is they can carry roughly the same amount but with the camera it would all be thrown in and in the small it would be more organized. Note neither will carry a LOT - they aren’t huge bags.
